Share a Meal and Share a Thought September in Indonesia
Story
Hello!
My name is Amanda Silva and I'm currently serving as a United States Peace Corps Volunteer on the island of Java in Indonesia. As a member of the Opportunity family, I know how great an impact these donations make in the lives of the people Opportunity reaches in India, Indonesia and the Philippines. This year's Food for Thought Campaign is focusing on Organic Farming in the Philippines.
Starting September 1, 2013 until October 1, 2013 (my birthday!), I will share a meal with a different person everyday in my village and share thoughts, stories and perspectives. For 30 days, I will post summaries of each conversation and pictures as well, which you will be able to follow on my blog: http://schlunkville.blogspot.com/ or follow me on twitter @Amanda_2858
All donations are welcome, the smallest amount counts. For us $5 or $10 is how much we would spend on lunch. Here in Indonesia, if you have a job as a teacher, for example, your salary is about $20 a month to take care of a family. In the Philippines, $1 is about 40 Philippine Pesos.
For everyone who donates, I will create and dedicate a video to you. Since I am engaging my community in this, I plan on keeping them updated on the fundraising progress as well so that they know there are people across the world engaging because of their stories.
So donate your lunch money towards a good cause!
I'm taking part in Food for Thought to help farmers living in the Philippines break the cycle of poverty for good!
